IT Support Technician Job Description
Job Title IT Support Technician Working Hours Monday to Friday 08:15 to 17:00 with a 1 hour break per day Brief We are a freight forwarding company based in Callington and looking to recruit an IT Specialist. Responsibilities The role is to diagnose, repair and maintain both hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of our computer systems. You will be responsible for installing and configuring computer hardware and will be the helpdesk contact for IT support within the business, training other employees how to remedy basic computer technical issues where appropriate. The position entails:
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues in person, remotely and by phone • Working with team members to diagnose both complex and routine computer issues • Conducting scheduled backup operations • Managing the company’s firewalls • Installing software and hardware systems, including new equipment, anti-virus programs, CRM
programs, and other tools used by the company's on and offsite employees • Adapting quickly to changing circumstances, new standards, and requests by management • Acting quickly in crisis situations so the company can resume normal operations as soon as possible • Setting up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices • Installing and configuring appropriate software • Providing orientation and guidance to new personnel on how to operate the company’s software
and hardware • Identifying computer or network equipment shortages and placing orders • Managing technical documentation and service contracts
Requirements
• Fully competent with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and Excel • A quick learner who will swiftly adapt to using our bespoke software package • An enthusiasm for developing your knowledge of computer systems • The ability to adhere to deadlines and manage high-pressure situations effectively • A good team player who will be willing to assist team members when required • Excellent problem-solving ability • Attention to detail • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Good interpersonal skills including coaching experience • A strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required to ensure security and privacy of networks
